Who runs this site
This website is the personal portfolio of Tómas Tryggvason. It's a simple, static site with no accounts, no database and no forms. The only thing collected here is basic analytics, covered below.
What data is collected
This site uses Google Analytics to see how visitors use it. It only starts after you accept the cookie banner. Nothing runs before that, and no cookies are set until then. Once accepted, it collects basic, standard analytics data:
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Scroll depth and outbound link clicks
- Approximate location (city/country level, derived from IP address, not precise location)
- Device, browser and operating system
- Referral source, such as the search engine or site you arrived from
That's it. No advertising pixels, no remarketing tags, no session recording, no fingerprinting.
Why it's collected
Just to see which pages are useful and to improve the site over time. It's not used for advertising, and nothing is sold to anyone.
Legal basis
Analytics cookies aren't strictly necessary, so UK law (UK GDPR and PECR) requires your consent before they're used. That's why nothing loads until you accept the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time. See Changing your mind below.
Who your data is shared with
Analytics data is processed by Google. Some of it may be processed in the United States under Google's standard data protection terms. Google's own privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
How long data is kept
Google keeps this data for 14 months, then deletes it automatically. The cookies it sets (_ga and _ga_*) expire after up to 13 months in your browser.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights over data collected about you, including the right to withdraw consent at any time. This site doesn't store any personal data of its own, so withdrawing consent (see below) stops any further collection immediately. For data already held by Google, you can manage it through your own Google Account privacy settings.
Changing your mind
You can change your cookie preference at any time using the button below, or via the Cookie preferences link in the footer on any page.
Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes to the site or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
